Pageant winners host community lunch in Cloetesville

Two local public figures recently hosted a lunch in Cloetesville with the aim of bringing people from the surrounding communities together. This was according to Sonja Adonis, a co-host of the lunch.

Adonis, along with Johan Daniels, hosted the lunch on 19 February at Eikestad Hall in Cloetesville.

Adonis holds the title of Ms Magnificent Women Icon (MWI) International Elite, while Daniels has the title of Sir Magnificent Men Icon (MMI) International Ambassador. They received their respective titles in 2022 at the MWI/MMI International Pageant in Cape Town, explained Adonis. The lunch was the first of its kind by the two.

“I want to uplift women, because often it’s women who put each other down,” stated Adonis in an interview with MatieMedia. The lunch included a beauty pageant, which was a great way to “boost the confidence of women,” added Adonis. She explained that the lunch was her initiative, and that she wanted to host it, in part, to honour her mother’s legacy. Her mother was also a community worker, Adonis said.

“The beauty pageant was a huge success because it saw many people coming out of their shells,” said Adonis. A total of 100 people attended the lunch, while about 20 participated in the beauty pageant, said Adonis.

Contestants in the beauty pageant competed for the titles of  Ms Phenomenal, Best Dressed Man, Best Dressed Woman and Best Dressed Couple, according to Adonis.

“The lunch was very beautiful, plus there were gifts and prizes to be won,” stated Sinazo Khoza, who attended the lunch. Guests could also participate in a lucky draw, said Khoza.

The lunch was made possible through donations by her family members, as well as contestants, said Adonis.

The success of the event was measured by the “engagement of the people who attended the lunch”, stated Daniels. “The lunch paid off, seeing everyone leaving with a smile and some lucky draw winners leaving with their prizes.”
