Gino’s management clears up closing down rumour

Gino’s will not be closing down confirmed the manager, Garry van Zyl, in an interview on Wednesday 28 March. This was in response to a rumour regarding the local business potentially closing.

“No, no, not at all. We’re definitely not closing,” said Van Zyl. “What we are doing though, is a project with some other people. Maybe somebody has mistaken that for us closing.”

The Gino’s management team were unwilling to share many more details about the new project.

“What I can tell you is that it will be close by in Stellenbosch. It has nothing to do with the Gino’s brand, but we’re being asked to come on board as proper restaurateurs to help them out with starting their restaurant.”

“It’s going to be something lekker and it’s something I think South Africa definitely needs. It is something that we feel is going to help bring our sport back to its prime,” he said.

The Gino’s management team has stated that they were unwilling to reveal the name of the owner of the new venture but were willing to reveal that it is a “Stellenbosch family, that owns a big estate.”

“Come back in June and I’ll tell you more details. But regarding that rumour – Gino’s will stay Gino’s, we’re not disappearing anytime soon, ” Van Zyl said.

The new venture that Gino’s is undertaking as a consultant will be followed up in greater detail later in the year.
