Two men and a woman were recently apprehended by the Stellenbosch South African Police Service (SAPS) after a confrontation at a centre in Paradyskloof. SMF News was present at the scene.
This came after the men allegedly assaulted and shot at a car guard in the parking lot of a restaurant at the centre, said Franklin Adams, a fellow car guard who was also on the scene.

Suspects threaten car guards
The suspects allegedly came out of a restaurant at Paradyskloof Centre and threatened Taswald Koopman, a car guard, with an air gun, according to Adams.
Then Emil Linders, another car guard, was cornered by the two men during a confrontation, according to Adams.
They allegedly fired two shots at Emil Linders, another car guard, with one shot grazing his ear, said Adams.
The men then proceeded to strike Linders over the head with the gun, claimed Adams.

The men then approached Adams and another guard, but instead went after the injured Linders, claimed Adams.
Linders sustained injuries to his head and ear, and paramedics were later on the scene to provide medical assistance.
Eyewitness hears gunshot
An eyewitness, Dawid Jordaan, who was seated at the Happy Folks restaurant at the time of the incident, told SMF News that he noticed tension building in the parking lot.
“There was a guy wearing black,” said Jordaan. “I saw how he took out a gun, he clocked it […] and a minute or two later a shot went off.”

SAPS arrived just before 20:00, and apprehended the two men, along with a woman who was being argumentative with the police at the crime scene. This was confirmed by a manager at the centre’s Engen garage.
SMF News contacted SAPS for comment, but had not received a response on the matter by the time of publication.
